Public Relations Minor

Minor in Public Relations

Revised 2017-2018.

The Minor in Public Relations will help students understand the role of Public Relations experts as they negotiate between the organizations they represent and the media. Through theory and practice, students will gain experience in the tools and ways of thinking that shape stakeholder relationships.

This Minor cannot be taken in conjunction with the Minor in Professional Communication or the News Studies Minor.

To receive this Minor, you must complete six (6) courses from the following curriculum:

Journalism students may use a maximum of two JRN courses as credits toward the Minor in Public Relations. Where JRN and NNS versions of a course are available, BJourn students must take JRN version of the course.

Professional Communication students may use a maximum of two CMN courses as credits toward the Minor in Public Relations.

NNS 101 is a pre-requisite for all NNS courses.

* The material in CMN 279 is covered by courses specific to individual programs. The following program-specific courses may therefore be used in place of CMN 279 for this Minor:
