- FNF 100 - Families and HealthCourse DescriptionThis course is a critical examination of recent important changes in Canadian family life and considers the implications of these changes for food and nutrition professionals. Theories for understanding the family are examined in order to provide the student with insight into the social, political and economic aspects of family structure and functioning. - FNF 400 - The Social Context of Human SexualityCourse DescriptionThis course examines the social basis of attitudes and behaviour related to human sexuality. By applying knowledge gained from the study of current research and theory, students will increase their understanding of the roots of societal norms and values related to sexuality and in the process they will have an opportunity to expand their own awareness of the range of sexual values and behaviour. Some of the areas to be considered are: premarital, marital and non-marital sexuality; sexuality and liberation; sexuality and interpersonal relations; sex codes and personal codes; sex and gender role socialization, etc.Weekly Contact:Lecture 3 hrs.GPA Weight:1.00Billing Units:1Count:1.00
- FNF 520 - Contemporary Family RelationsCourse DescriptionRecent changes to the concept of family require us to fundamentally shift our way of understanding this social phenomenon. What family is appears intrinsically related to what it does; and what matters most are the meanings individuals and groups bring to these domestic arrangements. This (UL) course is an in-depth investigation of the issues affecting contemporary family relationships in Canada.
