Research focus while a Bridging Divides Journalism Fellow
During her fellowship, Pradipta intends to study the adoption of artificial intelligence in Canada and whether or not AI is causing a loss of employment for migrant workers. While Canada’s immigration policies are globally recognized for attracting skilled workers to strengthen the economy, there are concerns about how AI and other emerging technologies across sectors will change the dynamics of labor migration in and out of the country. Pradipta plans to conduct field research, engage with local organizations and stakeholders, and network with sources who understand the issue of labor migration and the impact that the rapid adoption of newer technologies will have on migrant employment.
