TMU is committed to supporting the Mental Health and well-being of all members of the campus community. Past data has highlighted significant disparities in mental health experiences between different groups within the TMU community. Specifically, 2SLGBTQIA+ students reported notably higher rates of suicidal ideation in the last 12 months and lower self-reported mental health compared to their cisgender and heterosexual peers (NCHA 2022).

In response to these concerning statistics, SafeTALK suicide alertness training session is being offered specifically for 2SLGBTQIA+ students and staff at no cost on Monday, October 7th. This initiative aims to provide equitable access to suicide prevention resources for those that are disproportionately affected.

The session on Friday, October 11th is open to all TMU students and will be offered for $30.
