Safety Planning

These workshops are open to all members of the TMU community, including students, faculty and staff.

General or Scenario-Specific Safety Planning Workshops

General or Scenario-Specific Safety Planning Workshops are designed to address the safety and security concerns of an individual or group/department, either as a proactive approach or in response to a specific incident. These workshops can also be customized to your individual, group or departmental needs.

Duration Audience Key learning outcomes
30 to 90 minutes Individuals or groups/departments

Participants will come away with:

  • a greater awareness about safety and security issues on campus;
  • an understanding of what resources and support systems are available on the TMU campus, including TMU Security and Emergency Services; and
  • If required, participants will also gain the knowledge and skills to prepare for a specific area of concern, either as a proactive approach (i.e., theft prevention) or as a response to a particular incident (i.e., working late).

Interactive Safety Planning Workshops

Interactive Safety Planning Workshops are customized sessions designed to address the safety and security concerns of a group or department, either as a proactive approach or in response to a specific incident. Using interactive, scenario-based training, participants will work together to solve problems and practice techniques to respond to concerning behaviour.

1.5 to 2 hours Groups/departments

Participants will come away with:

  • knowledge and skills to recognize and respond to concerning behaviour; and
  • stronger problem-solving skills.
