Abdallah began his research during his undergraduate studies as a research assistant, investigating the vacuum-assisted lost foam casting of magnesium alloys. Eventually, for his master's and doctorate, he went on to investigate the use of grain refiners in reducing the hot tearing of magnesium alloys. He planned to use this understanding to improve the rollability of magnesium alloys, thus increasing their application in the automotive, aerospace and other weight sensitive industries.
