About Us
The Centre for Near-net-shape Processing of Materials (CNPM) at Ryerson University was the first university-based casting research facility in Canada with a focus on metal-casting processes, such as lost-foam, permanent-mold, die, and sand casting. It is a comprehensive, state-of-the-art and integrated facility with equipment for melting, casting and material characterization.
The research facility was initially (1991) housed in 341 Gerrard Street East. The Centre for Near-net-shape Processing of Materials was formally declared open at the current location on March 4, 1994.
