Abstract:
Two Urea-Based Metal-Organic Frameworks (TMU19 and TMU32) were prepared from synthesized urea-based ligands and commercial pillaring linkers. Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) were subsequently incorporated into the TMU MOFs to enhance their potential for heterogeneous catalysis. This nanoscale modification was achieved either by embedding the AgNPs into pre-formed MOFs or through the direct in situ photochemical synthesis of AgNPs within the framework matrix. Additionally, the influence of pre-formed AgNPs on MOF crystallization dynamics was investigated. The structure and morphology of the resulting nanocomposites were characterized using FTIR, PXRD, SEM, TEM, XPS, and BET analyses. Ongoing work focuses on evaluating the efficacy of these materials in catalytic applications for terminal alkyne carboxylation using CO2.
