About TMCIS

The Toronto Metropolitan Centre for Immigration and Settlement (TMCIS) aims to be a leader in the transdisciplinary exploration of international migration, integration, and diaspora and refugee studies. In addition to supporting research in these areas, the Centre’s mission includes mentoring students and consolidating Toronto Metropolitan University’s reputation as the pre‐eminent site of knowledge development and exchange with governments, community organizations, and other academics.

TMCIS has cultivated a diverse, vibrant, inclusive, and innovative global research community. By hosting research assistants, visiting scholars and practitioners and inviting experts to participate in TMCIS events from various institutions and countries, the Centre promotes international collaboration and fosters open dialogue on migration, settlement, and integration, enriching global discourse in these critical areas. TMCIS is supporting and participating in future knowledge mobilization and engagement events including national and global migration conferences and symposiums and continues to pursue funding opportunities to support future research activities. By fostering interdisciplinary research collaborations, enhancing the scholarship of faculty and students, and promoting knowledge dissemination and community engagement, TMCIS is actively working to strengthen its position as a leading community hub for migration studies at Toronto Metropolitan University.
