The TMU teaching community is invited to Peer Evaluation Week, to learn, explore and discuss shared experiences with peer evaluation in the classroom. Help to shape the future of peer evaluation at TMU!

Administered by the Leadership Lab, which recently merged with the Brookfield Institute to form the Dais, SSH 505: Making the Future, is an upper-level liberal course offered by the Toronto Metropolitan Faculty of Arts that focuses on areas such as public policy, health, democracy, personal leadership, transformative change, diversity, and public engagement, and challenges students to imagine change in these fields and what role they could play in that change.

New for the 2023-24 academic year, the Centre for Excellence in Learning & Teaching is hosting several new workshop series for faculty and contract lecturers. These workshops will cover crucial and emerging pedagogical topics, further reinforcing the Centre’s commitment to developing inclusive teaching practices that enrich the student learning experience.

August 28 is TA/GA Day, an in-person Symposium on teaching, an opportunity for TAs, GAs, and all graduate students to explore professional development offerings at the Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching.

Long-time TMU community member and Director of the Academic Integrity Office (AIO), Dr. John Paul Foxe, will soon be leaving his position to pursue a new opportunity as Senior Director of the Centre for Teaching and Learning at Concordia University.

Part of the course EI8011A, a credited course in the Master of Engineering Innovation and Entrepreneurship (MEIE) program, “Startup Go-To-Market” is one of twelve Co-Operative Education and Work-Integrated Learning Innovation Hub (CEWIL) projects at TMU aimed at expanding access to Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) opportunities through new partnerships.

Piloted in the Winter 2022 term, this program connects student entrepreneurs who demonstrate qualities of leadership, motivation, creativity, and perseverance with mentors and experts within Science Discovery Zone’s internal and external network to gain insight on challenges within the ecosystem as well as refine skills such as communications, project management, research and risk assessment.

The Biomakerspace program is part of a three-round funding initiative aimed at supporting work-integrated learning in post-secondary institutions, and is administered by the CEWIL iHUB, or the Co-Operative Education and Work-Integrated Learning Innovation Hub.

The Learning and Teaching Grants (LTG), is a program funded by the Office of the Provost and Vice-President, Academic, and administered by the Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching.

This open-credit course is open to undergraduate students from any program at Toronto Metropolitan University, because multidisciplinary collaborations can lead to the extraordinary.

A current Teaching Fellow with the Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching recently published an article in the journal of Innovations in Education and Teaching International that is based around developing a research-based live actor simulation for graduate supervisors.

The recent launch of the Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching’s new Black Studies Guide was more than just an event, it was an example of what can be done for all communities at TMU. It was about celebrating Black flourishing, scholarship, and activism by weaving together poetry, art, and community.

The Black Studies Guide brings together the work of the Black community within the university as well as the larger Black community in Toronto.
