Security Advisory: Apple QuickTime for Windows - Uninstall Today
This year, Apple announced that it has ceased support for QuickTime for Windows and will no longer provide any security updates. This does not affect QuickTime for Mac OSX. The Information Systems Security Office (ISSO) strongly recommends that users who have installed QuickTime for Windows on their device should uninstall it as soon as possible.
Some older Windows media authoring and playback applications relied on QuickTime. If you have applications that rely on QuickTime you may need to update or replace them. Adobe has released this advisory for QuickTime on Windows (external link) and you should check with the vendors of other media software you use.
Running or using unsupported applications or services can leave your systems vulnerable to malware or other security threats that will not be fixed by the vendor. Uninstalling QuickTime for Windows is the best protection available in this case.
