Urban Analytics and Data Storytelling
This interdisciplinary course introduces urban analytics, discusses challenges and opportunities related to using new and emerging data, and explores methods of using data for studying urban systems. Emerging methods such as geodemographics, geographical information systems (GIS), and big data analytics will be covered. Students will learn how to communicate data insights using visualization techniques and interactive dashboards. Students will also engage in hands-on projects, applying their skills to current issues such as housing affordability, urban environment and health, and various socio-spatial inequities.
