Histories of Photography

This course traces histories and theories of the medium of photography from its invention in the 19th century to the image-saturated world of the 21st century. Grounded in historical case studies, the course analyses the aesthetic, documentary, social, and political role of photography while providing a critical overview of key figures, theoretical debates, and artistic movements.
