Music, Myth, and Ecstasy
This course explores some of the many ways in which music and religion/spirituality
intersect cross-culturally. Surveying topics including shamanism, ecstatic states,
liturgical music, popular music and religion, and music as a spiritual practice, it considers the often cooperative and sometimes adversarial relationship between music and religion.
