ASL for Healthcare Professionals

This course provides students with a strong foundation in ASL used in healthcare systems. It focuses on sign language expressions necessary in the medical setting to facilitate effective communication between staff and patients. Students will explore vocabulary related to body parts and organs, patient assessment, communicating pain, common medications and treatments, common conditions and illnesses, and medical procedures. They will also engage in discussions on Deaf culture and Deaf people in the medical field.
