Political Communication
This course is a theoretical and practical introduction to the study of political communication or rhetoric. Reading important work on political persuasion from ancient Greece to present-day theorists of deliberation, we will ask what rhetoric is, what it should be, and how to succeed at it while maintaining our ethical commitments. We will also study the principles of effective communication in practice, analyzing instances of effective rhetoric in recent North American politics. (Theory)
