Biological Agents
Biological agents of significance in a wide range of workplaces will be introduced. Bacteria, viruses, eukaryotic microorganisms, parasites, fungi and insects that are recognized hazards to workers will be covered, focusing on those that have a direct impact on occupational health and safety. Major physical and chemical methods of controlling microbial contamination and disease transmission in work environments will be presented with limitations of each method discussed. Case-based scenarios will be explored using problem-based sessions.
