Materiality

This course introduces the idea of materiality and discusses primary materials used in the spatial design disciplines. Physical and cultural properties of materials are examined as are questions of sustainability and ethical sourcing and production. Methods of fabrication and installation, as well as the composition of typical assemblies, are investigated.
