In the early centuries of Islam, the study of the natural world was held in high esteem. Due to religious endorsement of learning and investigating nature, science and technology flourished across the boundaries of languages and cultures. Over time, debates arose about the appropriateness of scientific inquiry. This course focuses on scientific knowledge and technical know-how from the 7th-century rise of Islam to 1600 CE along with their impact on the Western world.
