The History of Reading
This course explores reading from a historical perspective, examining changing practices of and ideas about reading from the emergence of writing on clay tablets to the rise of digital media. Topics of study may include the relationship of reading to media, science and technology, public libraries and education initiatives, the publishing
industry, disability and neurodiversity, identities and communities, and literary forms and genres.
