Chinese Cultural Traditions

This course, taught in English, examines significant cultural traditions from the 2nd century BCE through the 18th century CE. Chinese myths, legends, identity, values, beliefs, and achievements will be examined. The intercultural relations among and between China, Korea and Japan will also be examined and tested. No prior knowledge of the Chinese language, history, or culture is required for this course. Contemporary manifestations of cultural traditions within the Chinese diaspora will also be studied.
