Introduction to Indian Philosophy
This course provides an introduction to Indian philosophy â its history, major figures, schools, and development from Antiquity to the late classical period. These may include: Speculative Thought in the Vedic Corpus; Carvaka Materialism; Early Buddhist Thought; Jain thought; Samkhya-Yoga Philosophy; the Nyaya and Vaisesika Schools; Brahmanical Social Philosophy; Mahayana Buddhist Philosophy; and Classical Vedanta. Issues may include selfhood, suffering, the good life, metaphysics, and theory of knowledge.
