Minors

This multi-disciplinary minor offers students the opportunity to learn about the histories and cultures of the peoples of the Middle East and North Africa from antiquity to the present day. With this minor, students will gain a greater understanding of an important region of the world that has played a key role in the development of literature, art, science, and technology. While enhancing their appreciation for cultural diversity and their awareness of globalization, students will also expand their knowledge of diasporic communities from this region.

Exclusions: Students may use a maximum of two (2) courses in any given discipline (indicated by the subject prefix of the course code) toward completion of the Minor in Middle East and North Africa Studies. This means that students will be limited to two (2) History courses (HIS and/or HST).

To receive this Minor, students must complete six (6) courses in total from the following:

Minimum of one (1) to a maximum of two (2) of the following language courses:

Minimum of two (2) to a maximum of four (4) of the following courses:

*HIS 559 and HST 506 are antirequisites. Only one of them may be used to fulfil the minor requirements.
