Economics of War, Revolution, and Empire
The course will examine the economic transformation brought about by the Industrial and French revolution. Secondly, the economic revolutions of the mid-19th century and the growth of European Empires. Finally, the Russian Revolution and WW I/WW II; focusing on the economics of mechanized warfare, rise of extremism, and the transformation of Empire. Themes such as global economic imperialism, the economics of class and labour, and wars of economic market expansionism will be explored.
