Venus Cheung is a Master's candidate in Planning and Urban Development at Toronto Metropolitan University. Her research focuses on how participatory design approaches enhance multicultural planning policies and practices, ultimately contributing to the well-being of diverse urban communities. Other research interests include experiences of foodscapes among immigrants, placemaking for inclusive food security, transnational care and migration futures.

As a research assistant at TMU, she worked on the social and built care networks of immigrants living with dementia, their care partners and professional care workers. She also contributed to partnership projects producing and disseminating migration knowledge by scholars from both the Global South and Global North.

Venus has previously worked in architectural consultancy firms and non-profits in various countries, including Hong Kong, Laos, Vietnam, Sweden and Canada, and currently serves as a volunteer with Urban Minds in GTA promoting youth engagement in intergenerational planning. She is also active in advocacy work with community-powered public spaces initiatives in Toronto and Hongkonger Diaspora Studies in Canada.
