Four members of the Bridging Divides research team have been recognized in the 2025 Toronto Metropolitan University Employee Awards, which honor excellence in research, education, and community impact.

Award Recipients from Bridging Divides

Yeates School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies Outstanding Contribution to Graduate Education Award

Josephine Wong, Co-Lead of the Immigrant Health and Well-being theme.
Recognized for excellence in mentoring graduate students and preparing them for impactful careers.

Collaborative Scholarly Research and Creative (SRC) Award

Atefeh (Atty) Mashatan, member of the Employment and Lifelong Learning, Immigrant Health and Well-being, and Place and Infrastructure themes.
Honored for multidisciplinary research collaborations that drive innovation and societal impact.

Knowledge Mobilization and Engagement Award

Anatoliy Gruzd, member of the Citizenship and Participation theme.
Acknowledged for outstanding contributions in translating research into policy and practice through external engagement.

Social Innovation and Action SRC Award & Dean’s Scholarly, Research and Creativity Activity Award

Lixia Yang, collaborator in the Immigrant Health and Well-being theme.
Recognized for research initiatives that strengthen civil society and for significant contributions to the field.
