HĀNA BUILD
Hāna Build is the building program Ma Ka Hana Ka ʻIke, an award-winning vocational training program for youth in Hāna, Maui — an isolated community on the island's east coast with over two-thirds of its population of Native Hawaiian ancestry.
Throught Hāna Build, Ma Ka Hana Ka ʻIke provides programs to teach academic subjects through real-life, hands-on applications, where students can understand the concepts they're learning through tangible examples. Their programs offer dynamic, hands-on learning activities that nurture their participants' success — in education and life — while contributing to healthy families and a vibrant local community. Hāna Build has three components: in-school woodshop classes, after-school and intersession employment, and post-high graduate apprenticeships.
