Connect with Community
Building a strong sense of community among Black-Identified students on campus is vital. Via spaces and networks Black-identified students can connect with their peers, find both academic and personal support and build community. Students can visit these groups' pages in order to gain access to events both on and off campus, including conferences, pub nights, poetry workshops, sexual health information sessions, arts and crafts, sustainable food workshops and speakers series covering activism and anti-Black racism.
The purpose of the Black Student Lounge is to provide Black-Identified students with a safe and culturally relevant space on campus.
The Black Student Lounge will facilitate resources and support for Black-Identified students. This multipurpose space will be designed to support Black students and ensure they feel safe and welcome. Black student space/lounge is located in Kerr Hall West (KHW-077A).
Student Life & Learning Support (SLLS) offers support and programming specifically for Black-identified Students in order to help foster community, identity, a sense of belonging to campus and as resources to assist in navigating the various systems at Ryerson.

Some of the potential opportunities include:
- Joining your department student unions and councils
- Leading orientation for new students or becoming a program representative
- Becoming an Arts Ambassador
- Join and work with the The Society of Arts, Social Sciences, and Humanities (SASSH) (external link) , a student-led society that is responsible for serving the interests of 4,900+ Arts students
- Get Involved with the Volunteers Assisting Students and Teachers (VAST) program
