Immigrant Settlement Agencies (ISAs) have two key roles to play in society, that of service and advocacy. However, the advocacy role has been increasingly challenged and greatly diminished over the last number of decades due to government funder orientation to a narrow business-centred notions of efficiency and accountability.

In this talk, we will learn about the value of a strong advocacy mandate for ISAs and the forms of advocacy they are best suited to compared to other actors.
