Dr. Kevin Fawcett

Kevin Fawcett completed his PhD in economics in macroeconomics, labour economics and monetary theory at the University of Toronto.  His current research focuses on the early careers of young adults and the mechanisms that drive their long-term outcomes in the labor market.  Specifically, Dr. Fawcett’s research seeks to understand how workers’ labor market decisions interact with wage contracts offered by firms and what effect that interaction has on workers’ earnings and unemployment.  Ultimately, the goal of his research is to determine how policy can be implemented to reduce inequality between workers from different socioeconomic groups. 

Prior to completing his PhD, Dr. Fawcett received an MA in economics and a BSc in economics (quantitative methods), both from the University of Toronto.  During his PhD, Dr. Fawcett took time away from his research to work on the trading floor CIBC World Markets where he helped structure and market derivatives to financial institutions. 

While a student at the University of Toronto, Dr. Fawcett was a member of the varsity golf and rugby teams. In his spare time, the researcher continues to compete as an amateur golfer and is an avid hockey player and musician.
