Small buildings have been used for various symbolic and pragmatic reasons all over the world. ASC 856: The Small Building, taught by Associate Professor Baruch Zone, is a way to look at a number of architectural issues through a close focus on one scale of building. This investigation includes a variety of building types in different cultures, architectural technologies, context, social dimensions of shelter and the relationship between architecture and sculpture. The influence of popular culture, corporate branding, iconic representation in building design and its impact on the landscape is examined. This semester, students worked on a competition entry for The Last Nuclear Bomb Memorial. To see the projects, visit the virtual Miro board below.
