The Conference “Emerging Technologies in Architectural Design: Structure, Construction, Material and Fabrication” introduces state-of-the-art technologies emerging from research or industries, from within and outside architecture, which are under research to be applied in architecture in the near future or have recently been used in architecture and building industry. The conference aims at building awareness and critical appraisal of these technologies and identifies how they might transform architectural practice and thus the role of the architect.
One of the crucial needs for architecture in the changing world is to respond to the changing requirements of its users and to allow them to experience their architectural ambition in reality through involvement in the architectural design process. In addition, energy crisis and environmental issues is one of the major global problems that is highly affected by the way that we design, construct and manage our buildings. Therefore, it is an emergent need to change the traditional ways that are used in the design and construction of buildings. Emerging technologies and technology transition from other industries into architecture can be considered as important mediums in responding to the building user’s ambitions, requirements and environmental crisis.
This conference aims to provide a forum for architects, engineers, designers and researchers to present their new research and share their practical experiences of emerging technologies. The focus will be on the future potential and challenges of implementing new technologies into architectural design, creative structures, construction processes, materials, and fabrication processes. There will also be a focus on the role of state-of-the-art and emerging technologies to delivering sustainable and environmental-friendly buildings.
