Toronto Metropolitan University Code of Conduct Guideline
The Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) Code of Conduct Guideline applies to all guests participating in TMU events (live and online) and/or social media/online platforms. The purpose of this guideline is to establish a framework that promotes a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all participants. By engaging in TMU events and/or online platforms, participants are expected to adhere to the principles outlined below.
Online and In-person Events:
- Respect and Courtesy:
- Guests must be respectful and courteous toward others at all times.

- Racism, transphobia, xenophobia, ableism and any other discriminatory behaviours are not acceptable.

- Any behaviour that is deemed inappropriate, including offensive written or verbal comments, harassing photography or recording, and disruption of talks or events, will not be tolerated.

- TMU's Right to Take Action:
- In the event of a violation or concern related to this Code of Conduct, TMU reserves the right to take appropriate action. This may include warnings, removal from physical or virtual spaces, and restrictions on attending or participating in future TMU events. Guests must immediately comply with any directions or instructions provided by TMU or its agents.

- Positive and Respectful Online Experience:
- Participants engaging on TMU alumni channels, platforms or communities are expected to contribute to a positive and respectful online experience for all members.

- Posts that are abusive, harassing, stalking, threatening, or attacking others are strictly prohibited.
- Content that is defamatory, offensive, obscene, vulgar, or depicts violence is not allowed.
- Hateful language targeting race/ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, nationality, political belief, etc., is prohibited.
- Fraudulent and Deceptive Behavior:
- Participants should not engage in fraudulent, deceptive, or misleading activities.

- Trolling or deliberately disrupting discussions is not allowed.

- Moderation and Enforcement:
- TMU reserves the right to remove posts and/or ban users who violate these guidelines.
By participating in TMU events and online communities, participants agree to abide by this Code of Conduct Guideline. TMU reserves the right to update and modify this policy as needed to ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all participants.
