TMU celebrates alumni excellence at the 2024 Alumni Achievement Awards

The 2024 Alumni Achievement Awards honour the outstanding career achievements and community contributions of extraordinary TMU alumni. This year’s recipients are from top left: Jamie Campbell, Andria Case, Jennifer Stojkovic, Rupinder Taggar, James Temple and Desneige Frandsen.
The Alumni Achievement Awards, established in 1998, recognize the accomplishments of TMU’s alumni. On November 14, the TMU community will once again join together, this time to spotlight the 2024 Alumni Achievement Award honourees at a formal reception.
The distinguished honourees include five Award of Distinction recipients and one Isadore Sharp Outstanding Recent Graduate award recipient. Meet the outstanding grads:

Jamie Campbell

Host, Blue Jays Central on Sportsnet

Jamie Campbell began his broadcast career in 1987 at CBC Sports and then CBC Edmonton before signing with CTV News Ottawa in 1997. A member of the Sportsnet broadcast team since the network’s 1998 inaugural season, he hosts Blue Jays Central, the national Blue Jays pre-and post-game show. Prior to hosting one of Sportsnet’s most popular shows, Campbell was the play-by-play announcer for the Toronto Blue Jays from 2005 to 2009. In addition to his work in professional sports,Campbell covered the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games and London 2012 Olympic Games.

Andria Case

CTV Anchor Weekend News and Videojournalist

Andria Case joined CTV News Toronto in 1997 as a general assignment video-journalist. Today, she anchors the station’s weekend newscasts and contributes reporting to weekday city-wide coverage. Case has become CTV News Toronto’s go-to arts and entertainment reporter. She shows tenacity on red carpet events from the Toronto International Film Festival to the JUNO Awards. She has interviewed international celebrities such as Oprah Winfrey, Brad Pitt and Sting.
Jennifer Stojkovic

General Partner, Joyful VC
Jennifer Stojkovic has shown executive leadership as the co-founder and general partner at Joyful VC, the founder of Vegan Women Summit and bestselling author of The Future of Food is Female. Stojkovic is also an advisor and board member of numerous startups. As a strategic leader in the industry, she has led and advised on a variety of projects including Hollywood films and presidential fundraisers. Prior to entering the food-tech industry, Stojkovic built her career in Silicon Valley, working with leading angel investors and technology firms such as Google, Microsoft and Meta.
Rupinder Taggar

Executive Vice President, Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre

Rupinder Taggar, RN, BScN, MScN, is the executive vice president and chief nursing and health professions executive at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. She provides executive oversight for nursing teams and other health professions across the hospital. Taggar also oversees a number of clinical programs including the Hurvitz Brain Sciences program, Tory Trauma program, DAN Women and Babies program, and the Holland Bone and Joint program. In addition to her leadership roles, Taggar serves on the board of directors at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, guiding strategic initiatives and advancing health-care excellence within the organization.
James Temple

Chief Sustainability Officer & Philanthropic Advisory Services Leader, PwC Canada

James Temple holds corporate boards and leadership teams accountable by embedding environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles into their purpose, values and operations to drive greater trust and transparency among stakeholders. As an authoritative voice on Canadian sustainability and philanthropy, Temple has testified before the Senate of Canada’s Special Committee on the Charitable Sector and served on significant boards, notably the Philanthropic Foundations of Canada, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada and the Vancouver Foundation. He has earned numerous accolades, including a Government of Canada Volunteer Award, and was named one of the world’s Top 20 Chief Sustainability Officers to Know by Climate Insider and a Top 100 Global Sustainability Leader by Sustainability Magazine.

Desneige Frandsen

Indigenous Youth Justice Program Manager, Level Justice

Desneige Frandsen is a Métis woman from Treaty 16 in Ontario. She holds an undergraduate degree in criminal justice and public policy from the University of Guelph and a Juris Doctor from TMU’s Lincoln Alexander School of Law. Throughout her career and studies, Frandsen has worked on projects focused on Indigenous issues, orders and perspectives. As the Indigenous youth justice program manager at Level Justice, she created the environmental justice program, updated the Indigenous youth outreach program and enhanced the cultural humility and empathy training offered to legal professionals. Frandsen engages legal professionals and organizations and Indigenous communities throughout Canada through her work.
Over 25 years, 150 distinguished alumni have been recognized for their outstanding career achievements, and their contributions to their profession and communities.
