Karen Harnisch

Karen Harnisch has a long history of volunteering for The Creative School at Ryerson. In 2013, she participated as a Film Studies panel member in the fourth year thesis students’ pitch sessions. In 2015, at the “From First Year to TIFF” event, Karen discussed her role as producer of the award-winning film Sleeping Giant. Karen has organized the Women and Film event hosted by the School of Image Arts for the last three years, and brings in women who are industry professionals to provide tips and networking opportunities, and to model the variety of filmmaking possibilities for graduating students. Karen has also mentored individual graduates for many years, helping them make contacts in the industry, often finding them positions in production houses, or helping them create their own.
