John Craig Eaton has a deep connection to Ryerson University reaching back beyond 1994 when the Eaton Chair of Retailing was established in what is now the Ted Rogers School of Management. He served as chancellor of Ryerson University from 1999 to 2006, leading a relatively new university through an unprecedented period of growth and achievement, including the launch of our first graduate programs. John was recognized by Ryerson University for his contribution to business and the community with an honorary doctor of commerce degree in 1996. He served on the Ryerson Board of Governors for almost a decade, was a member of the Make Your Mark Campaign Cabinet, and established The John C.
