HAUI
An award-winning mixed-media artist, HAUI directs, devises and designs cross-disciplinary works for stage, screen and visual mediums. Known for rejecting categorizations, HAUI amplifies overlooked themes, myths, histories and perspectives through an unconventional, diverse lens. Career highlights include directing Mixed↑ (Jack Fox Media/OUTtv), devising Private Flowers featuring Rodney Diverlus and Jera Wolfe (Toronto History Museums), and designing the world premiere of Edith Wharton’s Shadow of a Doubt, directed by Peter Hinton-Davis (Shaw Festival). Upcoming, HAUI will be published by Playwrights Canada Press and will direct his libretto, Aportia Chryptych: A Black Opera for Portia White (by HAUI and Sean Mayes), at the Canadian Opera Company.
To put a lens to those whose stories may not be at the forefront of history is really important.
