On both sides of the camera, Adam Reid has been entertaining for most of his life. Beginning as a child star on the 1980's cult hit You Can't Do That On Television, he moved on to co-write the show. In his fourth year of studies at Ryerson, he won the Normal Jewison Filmmaker Award and gold prize in the Chicago Film Festival's Student Category for Token For Your Thoughts. Director, writer, actor and comedian, he has worked in film, television and live entertainment garnering several awards. Mr. Reid has created a film mentorship program at Eva's Phoenix Shelter for homeless youth in Toronto; through this project, Adam is helping street-involved youth express their stories and their ideas on film to create new awareness and new opportunities.

It was an honour to be recognized by my alma mater early in my career, especially amongst such accomplished luminaries and fellow grads like Ed Burtynsky or Eric McCormack. I realized while sharing that moment of recognition, that I was part of a larger, supportive family — a family of grads that extends through all programs and all years at TMU, not just my own.
