Well, my time as a student ambassador is coming to an end. It’s definitely a bittersweet feeling. I’m now officially done with my undergraduate degree and looking forward to my convocation in June. As this blog post is being published, I’m currently travelling in Spain. I’m on the hunt for my first big post-grad job. This time of year is incredibly exciting, but also makes me feel nostalgic for the experiences I had during my undergrad, especially in the past year.

I applied to be a student ambassador through the Career Boost program, a service that provides on-campus jobs to full-time undergraduate students. I applied to every communications and marketing-related role that I could find, and found my best fit was in this position. I am so glad that I accepted this job as it turned out to be a great way to expand my skills as a communicator, a writer and a content specialist. I am so proud of the work that I was able to share with all of you, especially sharing insights about the return to campus, my experience as a student leader, and how I made Toronto my new home!

Another amazing part about joining this year’s team of student ambassadors was the opportunity to make friends. A common question we get through our Instagram takeovers is how to make friends and the best answer is to get involved! If you apply for Career Boost positions like this one, you’ll be able to meet teams of other students from across the university, not just from your program. I was so excited to meet new people through my job this year especially because we were coming out of a lot of COVID restrictions. Our student ambassador team met up for a social in March, and we continue to keep in touch!

It’s been such a fun experience this year to share my life as a student at the university. I have had the chance to explore new coffee shops, neighbourhoods and small businesses around Toronto. I’ve interacted with future students through my Instagram (external link, opens in new window)  takeovers and other special events. Most importantly, I had a lot of fun doing it all. Thanks for tuning in!
