Hi folks!

My name is Nishka and I am one of your student ambassadors this year! Some of you may be wondering why I look a little familiar, and it’s because I was a student ambassador this past summer as well! I’m so excited to be back again, but this time I will be on this journey with some of our other phenomenal student ambassadors! I would love for you to get to know a little bit more about me, so let’s get to it.

I am a transfer student in the Biomedical Sciences program and I’m minoring in Psychology. Besides working here, I am an events coordinator for our university’s chapter of the Stem Cell Club (SSC) and a part of the Biomedical Science Course Union (external link, opens in new window)  (BMSCU)’s events committee. In SSC, we run events and fundraisers to get people to sign up to donate their stem cells to those in need. The BMSCU is another course union that runs events for our university’s community. Outside of school, I run my own non-profit organization along with a few friends called SPARK! We coordinate our own events and provide opportunities for youth that are interested in the STEAM field.

In my free time, I like to do just about anything. Something I’m sure you can all relate to is being able to binge all your favourite Netflix shows for hours on end without realizing how much time has passed. My favourites include One Day At A Time, New Girl and Good Girls. I’ve always been big on the arts, which is why I’m a huge fan of painting. I may not be anywhere near as good as Bob Ross, but it’s something that brings me joy. I also love writing because I find it’s the best way to unwind while creating a masterpiece! I’ve recently started going to the gym after months of just exercising at home, and let me just say the atmosphere pushes you so much more to do even better. Watching Master Chef has also really pushed me to cook on my own and try new recipes. Some of my favourites are butternut squash lasagne, focaccia and dumplings. I’m always looking to pick up new hobbies and try new things, so if you have any suggestions, please send them my way!

Being in a set routine and having things to do really helps me stay on track. I’m very excited to see what this school year has in store for me and all of you as well. Be sure to stay tuned for more amazing content made by me and your other fellow student ambassadors.

Till then, “see” you soon!
