General admission requirements
High School Diploma with five academic Grade 12 courses numbered 30 or 31, each with a value of five credits. Two acceptable three-credit courses can replace one five-credit course. A maximum of two three-credit courses will be used in the calculation of an overall average. See program-specific requirements below.
Courses numbered 30 or 31 from the Alberta Programs of Study (external link, opens in new window) listed below are accepted for admission:
- Aboriginal Studies
- English Language Arts
- Fine Arts
- First Nations Languages
- International Languages, including French/français
- Mathematics
- Science
- Social Sciences
- Social Studies
Other courses are considered on a case-by-case basis at the time of assessment (e.g. locally developed courses).
Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) courses are considered when presented. English Language Arts 30-2, career and workplace experience courses, co-op courses and challenge examinations aren’t considered for admission. Social Studies 30-2 is accepted only if Social Studies 30-1 isn’t presented.
