Special consideration
You’re welcome to provide us with information that you feel should be considered in our review of your application. This may include circumstances that affected your grades.
Who can submit this form?
You may submit this form if you applied to a Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) undergraduate program and you have not received an admission decision (approval, denial, waitlist, cancellation). This form is not available for applicants to the Faculty of Law or Graduate Studies.
Purpose of the form
Use this form if you’ve faced a barrier and believe your grades don’t reflect your true abilities. Tell us about any negative circumstances that have affected your studies. This can include:
- Illness
- Mourning/bereavement
- Extracurricular commitments
- Employment/financial obligations
- Any other personal, social, or systemic barriers you have faced
Keep in mind, if you had a known disability or circumstances that were accommodated by your school (e.g. you received an Individualized Education Plan (IEP)), you’re not eligible for special consideration.
Supporting documentation
You can attach documents that relate to your circumstances (e.g. medical documentation of an illness, letters of support for extracurricular commitments, etc). Please do not attach academic transcripts.
Confidentiality
Information provided on this form will be kept confidential and will not be shared with any other department at TMU, including the Academic Accommodation Support office.
Deadline to submit the form
We encourage you to submit this form by February 1. Information received after this date will be considered subject to space availability in our programs.
TMU is committed to reviewing each situation on a case-by-case basis, in keeping with the principles of fairness and equity for all applicants. Applicants who submit this form will still be subject to competitive requirements.
