About Active Aging Training
We are recruiting for a digital active training program to assess the effect of an active aging program among White older adults in Canada. The program includes three outcome evaluation sessions (pretest, posttest, and 1-month follow-up) and a 4-week training course (16 sessions altogether) between the pretest and the posttest sessions. The outcome and training tasks include physical, social, and cognitive elements focused on healthy and active aging practices. This study is funded through a SSHRC Partnership Engage Grant and an Age-Well Grant, reviewed and approved by the Toronto Metropolitan University Research Ethics board [REB 2023-187]. This study will contribute to Cassandra Skrotzki’s doctoral dissertation project.
This program involves tasks that need to be completed online on your own computer, thus basic computer skills and access to Zoom is required. We will recruit 120 participants who meet the following criteria:
- Aged 65 or over and healthy
- Canadian citizens or permanent residents living in Canada who were born and raised in a Western culture (e.g., Europe, North America, or Australia)
- Can read, write, and speak English
- Have access to a computer that has the internet and allows Zoom meeting attendance
Participation is completely voluntary and can be withdrawn at any time. Participants can get up to $60 in compensation: $15 each for completing the follow-up, post-test, one-month follow-up, and completing all 16 study and practice courses. We keep all personal information collected strictly confidential, and the data is only accessible and used by the research team.
