Applicants who have been formally admitted to a Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) program will find their TMU account converted from applicant to student status.
- Following conversion, log in to the my.torontomu.ca portal and you’ll be prompted to create a TMU username and email address.
- Note that all official university communications will be sent to your student email address after you create it, so remember to check it frequently.
When to expect your student status
Your student category will determine the timeline by which you can expect to receive your student status.

Within 24 hours of registering for a course, you will receive an email with a TMU student number and instructions for completing the Online Identity Activation Form. As part of this activation, you can create a TMU username and email address, which will allow you access to the my.torontomu portal, online courses and services.
Troubleshooting activation issues
Once you’ve begun the activation process, solutions to common issues can be found by clicking the “Online Identity Activation FAQs” link at the bottom of the activation form.
After completing the form, please allow up to 24 hours for your online identity to be created before signing in.
