Johnson Tieu

I am a third-year student in the Accounting Co-op major. During the second year of school, I applied to get into the School of Accounting & Finance Co-op program, and after a tough application process, I was finally accepted! I was extremely happy and excited to be able to gain valuable real-world experiences while obtaining my undergraduate degree. With the help of the SAF Co-op department, I was soon able to obtain an Accounting Analyst position at CIBC. This gave me an amazing opportunity not only to meet with many industry professionals, but to also work with many of them on tasks and projects that affect internal operations. The courses taken at the Ted Rogers School of Management have helped me tremendously with this position. I hear and use familiar terms and concepts learned in school daily, and I see them applied to real world situations. The School of Accounting & Finance Co-op program has not only offered me a very valuable position, but also prepared me very well for the skills and knowledge required to work there.
I have also been given an opportunity since my 2nd year to be an Accounting Academic Peer Helper at TRSM where I am able to help other students succeed. At first, being a part of the first year of the new SAF program was scary, but I am now prepped to be here. I would like to thank the School of Accounting & Finance for everything, and I am very excited to see the program continue to grow.
