Class of 2017 - Accounting Co-Op Major

One of the best choices I made was joining the Accounting & Finance program at Toronto Metropolitan University. Like many students, I was unsure of what I wanted to study after high school. I attended another university and took courses in a variety of fields trying to pinpoint my area of focus. It wasn’t until I arrived at Toronto Met that I finally found the place that really resonated with me. The Accounting & Finance program is filled with staff focused on helping their students learn and excel in their area of study. The learning environment is what really worked best for me: small size classes where I was able to easily interact with my professors, as well as other students. In addition, the courses were effectively designed to teach students the main concepts and course material as well as the skills needed to succeed in the working environment (i.e., group projects and presentations helped to develop communication skills and presentation skills).

The most rewarding part of the program was the opportunity to join Co-op. During my three work terms, I have had the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills I attained during my education to the work environment. Co-op really helped me identify the things I enjoyed, as well as the things I disliked, which has helped me prepare for the future, and narrow down what my next steps of my career will be. I would definitely recommend the program to any student interested in pursuing their studies in Accounting & Finance. As an added bonus, co-op is also a great opportunity to make your experience at Toronto Met even more enjoyable and memorable!
