Accounting alum among top exam performers in Canada
Congratulations to Jesse Dufour (Accounting ’14) on his remarkable performance on the Common Final Exam (CFE)!
Jesse wrote the CFE in May 2016 and finished among the top performers in Canada. He was named to CFE Honour Roll for results that were among the top 2 percent of the over 1,000 successful candidates across Canada.
Jesse says his time at TRSM’s School of Accounting & Finance was essential to his strong performance:
“Through my educational experiences at TRSM I was able to build an understanding of the core content tested in the CFE. My time at TRSM enabled me to develop the critical-thinking and analytical skills required to thoroughly assess the issues presented.”
Jesse says students should prepare to become CPAs while they’re still at TRSM: “Take the opportunity to fully understand the core materials, as this will be the base for your success on the CFE. Quickly cramming before an exam will not assist with your future success.”
Jesse currently works with the Office of the Auditor General of Ontario and plans to continue on his current path and help aspiring CPAs along the way: “I look forward to pursuing opportunities which enable me to help future students successfully pursue their CPA designation and accounting careers.”
Daria Sydor, Chair of Accounting, says Jesse’s CFE performance “was exceptional and bodes well for his professional future” because of how important the exams are in the accounting industry. “Senior financial professionals understand the level of complexity in the exams and would be thrilled to hire a person of Jesse’s calibre,” says Sydor. “We have no doubt that he will enjoy a remarkable career and are very proud of his achievements.”
