Analyst - Thematic Research at BMO Capital Markets

John Stephenson is currently a thematic research analyst with BMO Capital Markets focused on the industrials sector. Prior to joining BMO Capital Markets in September 2018, John was the founder of Stephenson & Company a fundamental equity global long/short hedge fund. Prior to establishing Stephenson & Company Capital Management, John was the Senior Vice President and Portfolio Manager at First Asset (now a division of CI Financial). At First Asset he was responsible for heading most of the equity mandates as well as being instrumental in creating and leading the portfolio management team.

Mr. Stephenson is the author of The Little Book of Commodity Investing (John Wiley & Sons-2010), which has been translated into six languages and Shell Shocked: How Canadians Can Invest After the Collapse (John Wiley & Sons-2009).

John holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Waterloo, an MBA from INSEAD, as well as the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Financial Risk Manager (FRM) and Chartered Investment Manager (CIM) designations.
