The Quantum Computing (QC) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Decision Optimization (DO) Training Program, also known as “QAI4DO,” is addressing a critical gap in current education and workforce development by uniting:

Offering structured, prescriptive analytics to guide optimization and systems design.

Key Program Goals
Supported by a consortium of eight research-intensive universities from four provinces (Ontario, Quebec, Alberta, Newfoundland and Labrador), and funded by the NSERC CREATE program, QAI4DO has five key goals::
- Developing top-tier interdisciplinary talent equipped with skills for the integration of quantum computing, artificial intelligence and operations research for decision optimization. When trainees graduate from this program they will be able to tackle large-scale, complex, real-time optimization problems and will be well equipped to join and enhance the Canadian workforce.
- Create advancements in three cutting-edge research areas: (i) Machine learning for optimization; (ii) Quantum optimization, and (iii) Quantum Machine learning & AI decision making.
- Improve productivity and reduce decisions’ risks and errors through automated and real-time decision-making techniques and technologies leveraged by QC, AI, and OR.
- Bridge research and practice by fostering collaboration between academia, industry, and government.
- Make a paradigm shift in how integrated AI, OR, and QC training is delivered for decision optimization in Canada.
