Congratulations and welcome to TMU’s graduate community of intellectual explorers, creative leaders, and thoughtful innovators.
We have a long history of innovating in both teaching and learning, and our graduate faculty and staff are deeply committed to providing you with an outstanding student experience.
It’s an exciting time to be here on our urban campus in the heart of the diverse city of Toronto. In just two decades, our graduate community has grown to 3,000 students in nearly 70 graduate programs, with more on the way as we continue tackling real-world problems, forging strong partnerships and creating innovative solutions to shape a sustainable and prosperous future.
As you know, TMU is closely connected with numerous industry, professional and community partners. These connections offer a wealth of integrated learning and networking opportunities. As part of our graduate and postdoctoral community, you are invited to take part in various student engagement initiatives, such as the GRADTalks interactive lecture series, the Future Smart professional skills development program, and those offered by the Graduate Leadership Institute. We also offer the chance to win cash prizes from graduate student competitions, such as the annual Three-Minute Thesis Competition, or 3MT®, where grad students explain their research in three minutes using only one slide.
Finally, make sure to take advantage of the many opportunities throughout the year, be they varsity games, online workshops, talks by guest speakers, or visiting the inspiring art exhibits at The Image Centre (external link) .
As we start this new year together, I wish you great success and the very best for your graduate career at TMU. Congratulations again and I look forward to seeing you on campus!
